A 400 ton steel press to be used for the in-house manufacturing process of components for heat exchangers was installed by Lovemore Bros’ Heavy Rigging Department at Smiths Manufacturing in Pinetown recently.

Lovemore Bros erects aesthetic tower on bridge spanning N3 (January 2012)
The weekend of January 15th, 2012 saw the erection of a 33 ton, 34 metre long tower tilted at an angle of precisely 14º giving the new Tshelinyama pedestrian bridge across the N3 freeway near the Marianhill Toll Plaza.

One of the most unusual tasks ever undertaken by Lovemore Bros was moving 21 pontoons to the quayside of Durban Harbour to be loaded onto vessels and shipped to the Moma Titanium Oxide Mine located on the coast of Northern Mozambique.

Challenging project to move bridge spans from point of manufacture to Ellis Brown Viaduct (October 2011)
Lovemore Bros extendable trailers which were imported from Germany at the beginning of this year, had their work cut out for them recently when the first of 15 arched spans were lowered onto piers to widen the Ellis Brown Viaduct crossing the Umgeni River in Durban. Click for full story
Transporting, rigging and installing a power generation plant in Swaziland is all in a day’s work (October 2011)
Lovemore Bros was recently awarded a contract from project management company SiVEST for the transportation and installation of a condenser, turbine and generator to provide the power requirements for the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation (RSSC) mill at Simunye, in the country’s north-eastern lowveld.

Lovemore Bros’ Mechanical Division rebuilds diffuser head in Zimbabwe (October 2011)
The diversity of Lovemore Bros’ Mechanical and Projects Division was called upon to strip out and rebuild the drive head of a diffuser at Hippo Valley Sugar Estate Mill in Zimbabwe. The main columns and support structure had rusted and were in danger of collapsing from both its own weight and the forces imposed when in operation.

Entire bottling plant moved from Westmead to Bloemfontein (September 2011)
The entire bottling plant of Continental Beverages – whose lease was due for expiry at the end of the year at its Westmead, Pinetown premises – was put onto 15 low bed trailers and transported to the company’s self-owned premises in Bloemfontein.

One thousand tons of machinery shifted in emergency operation following harbour crane fire (July 2011)
Richards Bay harbour authorities were faced with a lot more than simply replacing a crane that was rendered inoperable because of an electrical fire whilst offloading alumina from a vessel onto a quayside conveyor belt.

Lovemore Bros meets demand for extra long cargoes (May 2011)
Lovemore Bros has imported two extendable trailers – which can be stretched to a staggering 35 metres – fulfilling a demand to transport extraordinary long cargoes such as wind turbine blades, precast concrete beams, tanks and pipes weighing up to 60 tons.
