LOVEMORE AHOY!
MSC Technical had requested for us to do a tender for the staging of a ship’s propeller at the new cruise terminal at Durban Point. The proposal done by the architects looked like a capsized ship that was sinking so MSC was not happy with the design.
After doing multiple 3D proposals MSC approved our design so we went ahead with the fabrication drawings.
MSC Technical did the fabrication in the workshop at Bayhead for the mounting stand of the propeller. The propeller was finally offloaded on the quayside by the same ship that transported it from Belgium.
The propeller was top and tailed using a 440 ton as the main crane and a 130 ton as the tailing crane and positioned onto the stand at the cruise terminal.
