OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW
WE were contracted by Hulamin to remove a 35 ton Gear. The difficulty was the access constraints which required us to think outside the box as there was no space to use a mobile crane or crane trucks. And we decided to use our hydraulic gantry with one 13 meter header beam and cross travel crawl to suspend the gear and travel from its existing position to an open area where we could place the gear down. It required months of planning and on-site measurement to be able to draw up the site in 3D so the idea could be executed off-site prior to actualisation.
A lot of praise needs to be given to Avikar for taking the initial idea and making it a reality. Dealing with the incredibly tight tolerances we had on-site was not easy and the planning he put in prior to execution was fundamental in executing the task.
